About
Nazareth is the largest city in the North District of Israel. In the New Testament, it is the childhood home of Jesus, with many shrines commemorating its biblical associations.
Modern-day Nazareth is nestled in a hollow plateau some 1,200 feet above sea level, located between 1,600-foot-high hills that form the most southerly points of the Lebanon mountain range. It is about 15.5 miles from the Sea of Galilee and about six miles west from Mount Tabor.
