Each saint inspires us by their words and by their life.

The life of Saint Thérèse was short and her words were simple. Perhaps that is why she is such a popular Saint. Her short life means that we always picture her as a young woman, and every young person full of faith is an inspiration to us all. Her simple words are so practical that everyone can carry them out, yet they express a profound wisdom.

The visit of the relics of St Therese to Scotland will I hope remind us that we can all live the Christian life: it is not beyond us, nor is it a way of life reserved for a few but it is the natural vocation of us all, and is within our grasp.
